Elevator Pitch

We are a small group of software developers and graphic designers that work together to build web applications. Our goal is to make the process as simple as possible which enables us to make advanced applications quicker and easier for everyone. While we can and do work from virtually anywhere, we are based in Rochester, NY.

A Bit More

Simple! That is the key to making great applications. Many times development companies try too hard to put in every bell and whistle possible. Sure we can do that too, but we don't. Instead we build web sites and applications that your intended audience will appreciate and more importantly use.

We concentrate in building database driving applications such as E-Commerce Stores and Content Management Systems(CMS). We also build custom applications such as WorkAlertz and soon to be released AutoGTG. Most importantly though we build sites and applications that you can manage and maintain.

The world is changing at a rapid pace, and you need to stay on top of changes to your industry. Coming to us every month to make simple changes is a waste of your time and money. While we are certainly happy to do it, we feel strongly in empowering you to be able to do it. Most of our customers come to us with little knowledge or experience with web applications. What we deliver allows them to solely manage their entire site. This is only possible by keeping things Simple.

Agile Development Process

Nearly every good on the planet is produced using what is referred to as a waterfall model. This process is easiest to demonstrate with bridges. You meet with an architect, design a bridge, go through rounds of revisions and then build it. After building it, you bring in engineers to test the strength of the bridge and eventually open it to the public. Most goods are produced this way, and for many, they need to be.

Web sites and applications however don't need to be. Instead we can adopt a process referred to as Agile Development. Agile Development lets us deploy quickly and often. Imagine being able to build part of that same bridge, maybe the sidewalk, and start letting people walk and bike over the bridge before the road is complete for cars. Obviously this doesn't work for bridges but with software it does.

We start small, building and releasing what is the core of the application, and begin having your audience using it early on. We then can work to expand and build more, over and over again. This process has numerous advantages. It lets us start small find out early if we are headed the wrong way. This makes all mistakes small, and changeable. It also puts real people in front of the software as quickly as possible. While we have great experience building user interfaces, there is a human element that can only be hashed out by the intended audience. Quickly we can react to their needs and change the application.

Technology

The best technology is the kind that you don't realize is even there. That being said we build all of our sites and applications with RubyOnRails. Ruby is an open source development language that allows for flexible coding. RubyOnRails is a web framework built upon it. It allows for quick and strong development. Most of your hot web applications today are utilizing it as it gains a cult like following. By using open source technologies we can ensure that no bug is out of reach of our developers. We can also use them with zero licensing fees. We typically host the applications and sites that we build. Utilizing the latest in Virtual Private Servers(VPS) and Cloud Technologies(Amazon EC2, Amazon S3).

Portfolio

Many of the sites and applications that we build contain functionality that can only be demonstrated in person. This might be a secure administration section for an E-Commerce Site or CMS(Content Mangement System). For this reason we hate the idea of a portfolio, but since everyone loves examples, here are a few to get you started.

Costs

Cost is always a concern. We understand this. Being a small business means watching every dollar. We will not sacrifice quality though. Instead by utilizing the Agile Development Process we break down each project into manageable parts allowing us to discuss what is possible in a given budget. If a tight budget is a problem, don't worry. We can start with a core and build upon it as money allows.

This might seem different, and it is. Many development companies will try and promise the world within a given budget. This only leads to bugs and errors, which leads to unsatisfied clients. Something we simply will not allow.

This however isn't to say we are expensive. Quite the opposite. We feel that Rochester's reputation as the imaging city and the numerous marketing and branding companies that exist here have artificially pushed the cost of web sites and development up. We have compared and usually come out fairly inexpensive. Mix that with our pride on quality and simplicity and we feel we are easily the best in terms of cost and output.
